Each of Full Sail's degree programs is developed and shaped in conjunction with an advisory board of industry professionals. By working closely with leaders and creative minds within a given industry, we are able to constantly adapt and revise our curriculum to make sure we're giving students the optimal educational experience to help propel them into their careers.
Clark Aldrich, an international consultant, workshop leader, and popular conference speaker, is also an award-winning designer of educational simulations. Mr. Aldrich advises many of the world's most influential organizations (private and government), serves on over a dozen boards, and has been called an "industry guru" by Fortune Magazine. He graduated from Brown University with a degree in Cognitive Science, and earlier in his career worked on special projects for Xerox' executive team.
Anthony Armstrong is an 8th grade U.S. History teacher and Apple Distinguished Educator at Del Mar Middle School in Tiburon, CA. In his thirteen‐year career, Armstrong has taught grades five through eleven in subject areas ranging from U.S. History and World Geography, to Algebra and Digital Learning. Prior to his current teaching assignment, Armstrong taught overseas at Korea International School. There he worked as an eighth grade social studies teacher and provided staff training's for the integration of technology into subject curriculums. He also developed a global collaborative project that informed students of innovative web technologies and provided a digital cultural exchange between students in South Korea and students in the United States.
Armstrong recently completed his Master’s degree in Educational Media Design and Technology from Full Sail University, where he devised a digital model for the employment of wikis into the curriculum of a one‐to‐one social studies classroom.
John Couch is Apple’s vice president of Education and is responsible for driving Apple’s sales and marketing strategy in the education market. He has over 30 years experience as a computer scientist, executive and advocate for technology in education. Directly prior to his current position at Apple, Couch was the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of DoubleTwist Inc, a leading provider of genomic information and bioinformatics analysis technologies, which made headlines as the first company to provide a comprehensive annotation of the human genome. The year before joining DoubleTwist, he was Executive in Residence for Mayfield Fund, where he provided strategic planning, management and technology advice to high technology companies.
As a professional public school educator for over twenty years in Central Florida, Jesús De León has been a recognized art and elementary school teacher as well as holding various positions within the Title I program. He is also an experienced teacher of the gifted, emphasizing in the integration of multiple modality approaches to include variety of technologies designed to target various learner intelligences. Soon after receiving his Master’s degree in Educational Media Design and Technology from Full Sail University, Mr.De León became a trainer for Quest Atlantis, a 3D virtual world environment which focuses in academic and social interaction of students implementing Web 2.0 technologies and has conducted informational presentations about it’s classroom integration in professional conferences held in Florida as well as Puerto Rico. Currently, Mr. De León continues to academically engage elementary school students and belongs to a professional learning network that is dedicated to improving instruction through the use of technology, the Seminole County Public Schools Instructional Technology Cadre.
Matt Dunbar is in his sixth year as the principal of Glastonbury High School. He helped lead GHS through a recent $48 million dollar construction and renovation project that provided needed space and technology for 2100 students and 165 faculty members. Prior to joining the administrative team in Glastonbury, he spent nine years teaching social sciences at the middle and high school levels and has been a member of district technology and professional development teams throughout his career. Matt graduated from Amherst College with a degree in history and earned a master’s degree in education from the University of Michigan. He completed his administrative certification at the University of Connecticut and serves on the advisory board for UConn’s Early College Experience program, the nation's longest running concurrent enrollment program. Matt also serves on the CIAC Board of Control, the governing body for high school athletics in Connecticut.
Sharyn Gabriel began her career in education as a high school math teacher. She went on to become an Assistant Principal at both the elementary and middle school levels before being named as the Principal of Ocoee Middle School. As the largest middle school in the 11th largest district in the nation, OMS has been designated as the State of Florida Demonstration School for Technology. Sharyn’s depth of experience across all educational levels from kindergarten through 12th grade gives her broad insight into our current educational system and what motivates digital native students of all ages. This insight led to the revitalization of Ocoee Middle’s technology labs to include game design, digital media, graphic arts, digital video production, agricultural science and industrial design. In this process, Sharyn has forged strong partnerships with businesses both locally and nationally.
Don Henderson is the Senior Manager of Creative Expression for Apple Education. In his role, Don is responsible for creating programs and solutions that integrate Apple’s Digital Media Tools across the curriculum, and working with educators around the country and abroad who have created programs focused on the use Apple’s Professional Applications. Prior to joining Apple, Don was the Director of Educational and Library Technology for the Grossmont Union High School District in San Diego, California. Don is also a two-time Smithsonian Laureate for the award-winning Digital Media programs he created for the Grossmont Union High School District.
Laurence Johnson, Ph.D. is Chief Executive Officer of the New Media Consortium (NMC), an international not-for-profit consortium dedicated to the exploration and use of new media and new technologies. Its hundreds of member institutions constitute an elite list of the most highly regarded universities, museums, research centers, and companies in the world. Founder of the internationally recognized Horizon Project, Johnson is an acknowledged expert on emerging technology and its impacts on society and education, and the topics of creativity, innovation, and how to think about the future.
Dr. Jason Ohler is a speaker, writer, teacher, researcher and lifelong digital humanist. A quarter century ago at the University of Alaska he helped create one of the first educational technology programs in the U.S. devoted to teacher empowerment, and has been involved in the world of digital learning ever since. His recent article in Education Leadership magazine ("The World of Digital Storytelling") and his upcoming book for Corwin Press (Digital Stories in the Classroom: A Telling Experience) remind us that first and foremost he is a storyteller.
He is author of many articles, books, and teacher resources and continues to work directly with teachers, administrators and students. Although he is called a futurist, he considers himself a nowist, working nationally and internationally to help educators and the public use today's tools to create living environments that we are proud to call home.
Allison Powell is the Vice President for the International Association for K-12 Online Learning (iNACOL). She worked for the Clark County School District in Nevada as the Coordinator for K12 Digital Content and Distance Education to develop an Online Professional Development Program and online content for teachers across the district. She is a past member of the NACOL Board of Directors and is a co-founder and board member of the Nevada Online Education Consortium, and currently serves as a board member of the Computer Using Educators of Southern Nevada and the Southern Nevada Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development chapter.
Kerria Seabrook has directed, written and produced over 60 animated films at ILL Clan Animation Studios. She is co-creator of “Tra5hTa1k,” the voice of Daisy in MTV’s “Life In The Virtual Hills” and director/writer/producer/actor for “The Grid Review” which won best series in the Machinima Film Festival Europe 2007. She has a BFA from Corcoran College of Art and studied filmmaking at SVA.
Dr. Threlfall has over 20 years experience in adult education and training with an emphasis on curriculum development. She began her career in adult education by teaching Army enlisted, NCOs, and junior officers in the Basic Skills Educational Program (BSEP) and Advanced Skills Educational Program (ASEP) while living in Germany in the late 1980s. She completed a Master of Science in Adult Education from Old Dominion University, and subsequently completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Urban Services Education from ODU as well. Dr. Threlfall has extensive experience in designing adult education and training programs and has developed, designed, and implemented new courses in both higher education and corporate settings. Dr. Threlfall currently is currently providing internal analysis and training for L-3/D. P. Associates.
Marco Antonio Torres has taught high school for ten years, and has been media coach and education technology director for San Fernando High School in Los Angeles, one of the nation’s largest urban schools. In addition to his work in the classroom, Marco is also a professional filmmaker and photographer who uses these digital storytelling skills to add value to his curriculum. He has been recognized locally and internationally – including being honored as a California Teacher of the Year – for his accomplishments in the classroom and for using technology to empower minority students. Torres is an advocate for more collaboration between the media arts world and education and was recruited to serve as a board member for the George Lucas Educational Foundation to promote digital technology.
